The appiChar Story

Ian Ryder, the Founder of appiChar, joined a well known national charity in 1999 after they had suffered severe IT problems including the loss of their fundraising database just before Christmas; their busiest time of the year.  Ian went in and reviewed all their systems, implementing standard procedures for their helpdesk, intranet and data backup system.  After a few months their IT system had progressed from a system that people were reluctant to use, to a resource that actively helped the organisation to meet its objectives.

As a consequence of this success projoect Ian Ryder started to consider how his IT skills, sector knowledge and experience could help other NFP ,organisations gain access toefficient, cost effective IT services.  In 2002 Ian founded appiChar... now a highly regarded IT services provider with 25 staff and over 100 customers, ranging from 3 to 300 users.
